To continue this week’s focus on loving your job (who needs red roses and chocolates this Valentine’s Day anyway!) and following on from Rowland’s story about temporary work, we’re proud to feature Tom who found permanent work he loves through One Step Recruitment. Could you be next?
Introducing Tom, an Area Manager recruited by One Step:
“One Step Recruitment were a great help in putting me in my current permanent role. I thought the role as an Area Manager was out of reach for me. They helped me prepare for the interviews and gain my confidence.”
Tom registered with One Step as he was looking for a new challenge, having started his career as an apprentice before gaining skills across a range of different industries. When the Area Manager vacancy was placed with One Step, our Commercial Manager immediately thought of Tom for the role.
“A year on I’m now running an area of 14 garages, looking after 20 valeters and have just been given a pay rise! The thing I love most about my job is travelling around; I’m never in the same place each day. I deal with all different types of people which has helped with my personal development and I particularly enjoy the responsibility of looking after 14 garages. As I have a lot of people who need my support and I enjoy helping other people, I find this very rewarding. I see a good future with this company and I appreciate One Step Recruitment for finding me the opportunity.”
Tom’s advice to his younger self would be to “listen to people who are trying to help you. You don’t know it all and the more you listen, the more you learn and more respect you will get from your managers. Also, never think an opportunity is above you – you will never know until you give it go.” Inspirational words Tom, thank you.
We are delighted that Tom secured permanent work he loves through working with One Step and that he can now enjoy happy Monday mornings! If you have been inspired by Tom’s story, get in touch!
