Our history of developing and promoting staff internally, and providing ample on-the-job training is part of the reason why clients and candidates trust One Step – consistent training and delivery of service across all three of branches means our service has always been the same: locally focused, honest, and efficient.

James Slipper joined our company over a year ago as an Administrator in our Taunton branch, and has recently been promoted to a Consultant in our Chard Branch – through his hard work and diligent approach to recruitment support as an Administrator and Receptionist, he’s perfectly placed to make the leap into the busy and competitive world of recruitment consultancy.

Our Branch Manager Adriana is glowing about James’ ability to adapt:

“James is currently in the process of becoming another great consultant at the Chard Branch – he has embraced every challenge and is learning as much as possible within every aspect of his new role: he is a natural.

He has already established some great new relationships with both candidates and clients, giving him a better understanding of their needs. He already provides brilliant customer service, and he now compliments our Chard team. We are a much stronger and versatile bunch of recruiters with him!”

James himself was also happy with his progression:

“I can certainly say I’ve found the transition really exciting: a huge amount of learning is involved which can only ever be a good thing, and something that I know will continue for as long as I am in the role.

The thing I am enjoying most is building more personal relationships with both candidates and clients. A big part of that has been the training I have received: it’s allowed me to be confident in registering candidates and building that relationship.

On the flip side of that, visiting existing clients has allowed me to build a more confident rapport. I believe it is the trust built from these things that allows me to make more effective decisions within my new role.

I thoroughly enjoy the work ethic here, and the team culture here has really helped my move into becoming a consultant. Something I am looking forward to is more training on the business development side of things – the variety is something that makes the job very exciting, especially due to its fast pace!”

Keep up the hard work James!
