#ThrowbackThursday to a couple of weeks ago, when our Commercial Manager James joined fellow local businesses to lead a series of workshops to the Year 9 students at Chilton Trinity School, Bridgwater.
The students enjoyed a work-related activities week organised by CSW Group, which James participated in. James introduced the students to the world of work and recruitment agencies, giving valuable CV and interview advice, which really grabbed the pupils’ attention.
We received wonderful feedback from Hilary from at CSW Group, commenting “I was particularly struck with the energy, enthusiasm and desire to work with the young people that every employer I spoke to expressed.”
Hilary was also kind enough to pass on this heart-warming feedback from a teacher at the school, which has made our day: “Students who would normally find it difficult to even be in the room were engaged and interested in the workshops, which is a testament to the work you and the other employers have invested in their preparation. We appreciate your time and professionalism and can see the immediate benefit to the students in the way they ask questions about opportunities they would not have realised existed previously.”
We are in a very fortunate position to be able to deliver these workshops to the workforce of tomorrow and really enjoy working with local schools. We look forward to seeing all the local schools at our very own Somerset Skills & Careers Fair on 11th October 2017, where students can mix with over 80 exhibitors at a fun and informative event. #inspiresomerset

A very happy birthday to our commercial manager, James.
James is a vital and valued part of our team here at One Step Recruitment, so it is with great delight that we’ve treated him to his favourite tipple as a present from us all in the office. Unfortunately James has to wait until 17:30 to crack one open…!
We’re not going to reveal his age (we’re not that mean), safe to say there was just the right amount of appropriate banter!

We pride ourselves here on placing the best talent Somerset has to offer in a wide variety of roles across the county. But don’t just take our word for it…
Marina Rosario registered with our Yeovil office for temporary work and it turns out she is rather in demand! As a reliable, proactive and hardworking candidate, we often received calls from a number of happy clients requesting to book Marina again and again.
Marina is flying abroad next week, so today we took the opportunity to say thank you by awarding Marina as our Team Player of the Month.
Enjoy your treats, from the whole One Step family.

The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation is a Somerset-based charity formed in 2002, organising and funding weddings for people with a terminal illness across the UK, founded by Naomi Thomas who herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.
Naomi and her husband Graham, Head of the Board of Trustees, appeared on the ITV show Surprise Surprise in the summer of 2015 as the charity had grown at such a rate they were struggling with administration. However, they couldn’t justify a member of staff’s wages when that money could be used to fund a wedding.
It was on this popular family TV show that Naomi and Graham were introduced to Nick Mock, MD of One Step Recruitment. Nick gifted the charity with a member of staff funded by One Step to help manage their communications, adding “we are thrilled to support this local charity that brings such happiness to couples at their most vulnerable time. Having lost my wife to breast cancer, I admire Naomi for her dedication to the charity despite her own battle with cancer.”
Two years on and in the charity’s fifth year of operation, One Step Recruitment re-approached The Foundation in 2017 to evaluate their staffing needs after the charity moved premises. Following a lively Facebook campaign led by the charity, One Step has now placed another fully funded member of staff as an executive assistant to Naomi, providing valuable administrative support to the charity.
“We cannot thank One Step Recruitment enough for the support they have given us since 2015. We are very proud to be working with such a fantastic local business. Our new recruit Louise has already proven to be a much-needed addition to our team. One Step has worked very hard meeting candidates to find a member of staff who is a good fit with our charity family at The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation” said Naomi Thomas.

This is the fifth anniversary year for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, who have organised some unusual weddings in their time, including a full Harry Potter themed wedding in Portishead.
A number of applicants applied to work for the charity responding to the social media campaign, many of whom have since registered with One Step Recruitment and are now in the process of finding work with other local employers.... Read More
