Firstly we would like to start this by wishing you a very Happy New Year and I am sure you would agree we are all looking forward to a far better 2021.
Our first week back after the New Year and been somewhat of a different one from years gone by! We all came back refreshed and ready to hit the ground running on Monday before……. BANG!!! National Lockdown was announced! After the first National Lockdown thoughts were that some of our temporary staff may no longer be needed and permanent recruitment would be put on hold. However, that has certainly not be the case, in fact quite the opposite.
Temps & Perms
The need for temporary staff has actually increased and permanent starters have started! Why? We believe that temporary staff are more important than ever before due to the uncertainty of the market. Permanent starters, well some clients have learnt from the previous lockdown that those excellent candidates will be lost. Rather than delaying a start date then, employers have honoured their offer to candidates. That loyalty alone will hold employers in good stead when we all come out the other side of this.
Brexit
As some of our clients are international traders we really kept an eye on this and have the capacity to supply more staff if needed. The general feel is that employers are coping fairly well with this and if an increase in demand is needed then again we have the ability to supply temporary staff when needed, this too also happened in the first week back!
More Vacancies
So with the announcement on Monday temporary and permanent vacancies will drop off right? Wrong!!!! We have actually since a huge increase and on Wednesday saw over 10 clients calling or emailing us with new requirements for staff. Clients understand that we have the ability to find suitable candidates that can carry out the job in question. Clients understand that we are experts in our line of work and dont want to sift through hundred of applications.
So there it is week 1 of 2021 nearly done and its been a good start to the year despite the announcement of National Lockdown! We are still in the offices as we are proud to be supplying the NHS, key workers and also the food industry.
