Friday night Nick and Sam O’Brien invited James, Tansy, Steve & Sam G, along with their partners to join them for an evening at the Somerset Business Awards 2016.
We were in the final 3 for the Skills for Growth category, a cause and category that we were thrilled to have simply been nominated for after years of us building our voice, trust and relationship with the local community via School workshops, through to adults facing redundancy and of course our annual Somerset Skills & Careers Fair 2016, all on top of our “day jobs”.
After a 3 course dinner, a few drinkies and the short video…the words…”And the winner is…..One Step Recruitment LTD” A moment of pure shock and only the recollection of uproar and applause around the room and our table (you can all imagine Steve,) whilst Tansy and I make our way to the stage to collect the award, say our thank you and pose for the press “my favourite bit” advised Sam G our Marketing Coordinator.
One person we missed out of the speech and I know this man doesn’t like a shout out, but I want to DING Mr Mock for being such a fab boss, we can all talk to him, he listens to us and gets stuck in. In the well-known words of Richard Branson “If you take care of your workers, they’ll take of your business” which I believe is fitting.
To close, I thought we would use our MD’s own words as a shout out to all of us… “The Somerset Skills for Growth Award 2016 is now sitting in One Step Recruitment’s head office. A massive well done to all our staff who have contributed to what is a massive honour and a privilege to win such a prestigious award. Thank you all.”
