While the World Cup furore erupts around us and the nation lurches away from having one hand on the modern Jules Rimet, Wimbledon has supplied us with our yearly dose of giant killings, 5 setters and broken rackets.
And while the hopes of the nation were proudly placed on the shoulders of Mr Southgate rather than Mr Murray or Ms Konta, we’d like to pay homage to our very own Commercial Manager James Tuckett, who, prior to stepping into recruitment, was a Tennis Development Officer and Head Pro at a Tennis club in Somerset!
James was active for 8 years coaching at grass roots level, working primarily in youth training and Wheelchair Tennis development – he was involved in the Cliff Richard Tennis Trail, focusing on sourcing up and coming talent around schools and academies around the country, and was an individual wheelchair tennis coach on the World Team Cup.
Working in such a competitive field was no easy job, but James understood that community coaching, talent development and working with the stars of tomorrow was vital: all of which set him up nicely for a career in recruitment!
Here’s to James – our own champ and local hero.
