With three branches across the county, One Step Recruitment offers permanent, temporary and interim employment solutions across a range of industries.

Our expert recruitment consultants bring local industry knowledge and in-depth market awareness to the sectors they represent – our mantra is “Stay Local” for good reason. We’ve been present in Somerset for 20 years and remain at the forefront of local recruiting practice.

Whether you are an employer looking to fill a vacancy (even at short notice), or you need help finding a job, we work tirelessly to represent you.

We have offices in Taunton, Chard and Yeovil and work across multiple markets: Industrial, Commercial, Legal, Care, Hospitality, IT and Engineering.

Our local, specialist divisions and long-standing presence is why we are Somerset’s most recommended recruitment agency.

Below you’ll find the types of positions we recruit for; we have a range of roles available from full-time, permanent positions through to temporary or part-time work.

We’re adapting our service to better reflect advice we have been given from our industry bodies, the Government, and our communities regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

Job Seekers and Candidates – we will not be taking walk-in enquiries at any of our three branches in Taunton, Chard or Yeovil – all registrations will be done remotely

Clients and Employers – our service remains fully open and we are able to provide staff across all of our specialisms – however, we will be asking all clients about their specific COVID plans of action, how they are approaching this unique situation, and will provide a diligent service that suits your needs.

For any questions on the above, please speak to your local recruiter.

Stay safe, look after your loved ones, and if in doubt take necessary precautions to self-isolate.

Looking for a new opportunity?

Our applicants should know that we will understand your skills and desires and we will work hard to provide you with relevant opportunities to best match your requirements. We have a huge selection of different roles, so we can pretty much guarantee your perfect job is waiting for you through One Step. Have a scroll of our current jobs and then send us your CV – we’d love to hear from you and help you in any way we can.

What do I need to do to register with you?

Initially, you just need to fill out the registration form. We will then contact you to arrange an interview/meeting with you – a CV can only give you so much information, so we don’t feel we can represent a candidate without first having met with them. Everyone who applies for work is interviewed by consultants in their own field of expertise. We can organise numeracy and literacy testing, as well as more focused tests such as data entry, food hygiene, customer service and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Results are available for review by employers. We want to give you the best chance of finding the best job for you, so we feel like it is super important to fully get to know you during the registration process.

Can you help me out at short notice?

If you need a super urgent and temporary job, we offer cover for a day of sickness roles, which can even be realised on the same day if needed. To make sure short notice work remains available, we have 24-hour availability. If our offices are closed, your call doesn’t sit on an answerphone until the next working day. It will go to the on-call consultant with a remote desktop. This means we can take a booking or fill roles in times of sickness, over holiday periods or weekends. Our 24-hour on call phone is also an important factor for applicants for out of office conversations, guaranteeing privacy and an effective consultancy away from office hours.

What type of work can you offer me?

We have a variety of sectors that we recruit into, all ranging to fill permanent and temporary vacancies across all levels, from senior management to cover for a day of sickness. The sectors/role categories are: industrial (from factory to housekeeping), commercial (from customer service to marketing), technical (from engineering to IT support and development), senior appointments (roles from finance director to general and senior management), hospitality catering and events (from bar and waiting staff to head chef), and care work (day, night and live-in care work in both residential and private homes). The specific job roles listed are not limited to these examples; we have copious amounts of jobs on offer, more and more being added daily.
