An apprentice shout out with a difference - Tuesday 02nd May 2017

We are delighted to announce that Abbie Singer has completed her Business Administration apprenticeship which has been signed off today.

Miss Singer started with us at the end of June 2016 and she was our first apprentice to join the One Step family. Get this; she has completed her qualification in 10 months….. 2 months early!

Abbie will be staying with us and will be starting to move into a trainee consultant role.

James, our commercial manager, had this to say about our young superstar: “Abbie, it has been an absolute pleasure to see you really come out of your shell since starting with us at One Step and I’m so pleased to see how much you have grown and quickly became a valued member of the Yeovil team.”

#TBT to us winning the Somerset Business Awards in the 'Skills for Growth' category 2016. - Thursday 27th Apr 2017

Last October we were in the final 3 for the Skills for Growth category, a cause and category that we were thrilled to have simply been nominated for after years of us building our voice, trust and relationship with the local community via School workshops, through to adults facing redundancy and of course our annual Somerset Skills & Careers Fair 2016, all on top of our “day jobs”.

After a 3 course dinner, a few drinkies and the short video…the words…”And the winner is…..One Step Recruitment LTD” A moment of pure shock and only the recollection of uproar and applause around the room and our table (you can all imagine Steve,) whilst Tansy and I make our way to the stage to collect the award, say our thank you and pose for the press "my favourite bit" advised Sam G our Marketing Coordinator.

Visitor bookings now open - Wednesday 19th Apr 2017


With the arrival of a sunny spring, a new financial year and still fueled by chocolate, we’ve been busy sending out letters to all the state schools in Somerset to mark the opening of this year’s advance group bookings for the fifth anniversary Careers Fair on Wednesday 11th October at The Venue @J24.

We have had the pleasure of working with Mandy Plece, Head of Careers at Haygrove School, to help overcome common objections that schools/colleges may have to taking students out during the school day. Here’s what Mandy has to say:

 “We continue to take the whole of our Year 10 to this event; it is perfect for this age group as the students get to network with local businesses  and build positive links for work experience. It also helps them understand what comes next and the key skills they need for their work journey.  Our students’ eyes are opened to the opportunities available to them, with no bias and all under one roof.

 We are happy to take our Year 10’s out during the school day, as this event is a unique opportunity to link the curriculum with everyday working  life. Liaising with exhibitors is a super way of improving students’ communication skills.

 I also benefit directly, networking with key influential people in the area in these exciting times for Bridgwater and the South West. Attending  this major careers fair takes the pressure off arranging our own; we do not have the resources, or the room, to offer anything as impartial or on this scale.”

A week of awards at One Step - Friday 07th Apr 2017

You may have noticed our first ever double Team Player of the Month Award earlier this week and we have sneakily kept one last surprise to a much deserved candidate.

Ania, our Chard consultant, told us Joshua has been her team player for February, March and April for his excellent work he carried out for our clients and because he ‘bends over backwards for One Step’ at every opportunity.

It gives us great pleasure to reveal Joshua now has a permanent contract through another large client of ours with a global presence.
