Happy two year work anniversary to Miss Emma! - Friday 26th May 2017

Today marks two years since Emma joined the One Step team and quickly became a vital part our business. To celebrate, our MD agreed that Emma’s dog Hogan could join us in the office for the day – what a lovely addition to our Taunton branch!

Emma joined us as the commercial administrator for our Taunton office in 2015, working closely with her manager James and supporting the team with payroll, time sheets and holiday requests.

Emma quietly continued pursuing her interests in photography and graphic design outside of work. Having volunteered her services at work for various projects it became clear that Emma is a natural, so in January 2017 Emma was promoted internally and became the third member of our marketing team – with the added bonus that she remains go-to person for any administrative questions!

Thanks for your dedication, your flexibility and for bringing a fresh perspective to our marketing material; you really capture the One Step ethos.

Unemployment has dropped to its lowest level in more than 40 years, a fabulous result considering it wasn’t long ago that we were struggling with a recession.

Can you guess which is Somerset’s strongest industry, in terms of staffing numbers? The answer may surprise you – and no it’s not farming!

Of those employed in Somerset, the number of people in professional roles is 18.2% - the largest of all occupations – closely followed by skilled trades at 14.3%. Professional roles largely follow the national average, but skilled trades nationally drops to 10.4%*.

An apprentice shout out with a difference - Tuesday 02nd May 2017

We are delighted to announce that Abbie Singer has completed her Business Administration apprenticeship which has been signed off today.

Miss Singer started with us at the end of June 2016 and she was our first apprentice to join the One Step family. Get this; she has completed her qualification in 10 months….. 2 months early!

Abbie will be staying with us and will be starting to move into a trainee consultant role.

James, our commercial manager, had this to say about our young superstar: “Abbie, it has been an absolute pleasure to see you really come out of your shell since starting with us at One Step and I’m so pleased to see how much you have grown and quickly became a valued member of the Yeovil team.”
